As one of the United Kingdom's leading foliage producers, supplying Eucalyptus and other cut foliage to the top florists, wholesalers and zoos (for Koala feed), we are ideally placed to produce quality plants from our own stock plants and seed trees.
Whether you require plants for shelter or windbreak, as specimen trees or shrubs, for cut foliage production, for fuel production or merely to feed your pet Koala, we have a range of species designed to meet your needs.
Established for over 15 years and situated in a scenic valley in the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, our 20 acre plantation and nursery offers a wide range of over 30 hardy and semi-hardy Eucalyptus species, all of known UK provenance. This is extremely important as there is considerable variation in survival between provenances.
Culture is easy and many of the species available can be grown as shrubs or trees depending on the situation. This can be a great advantage with Eucalyptus as many of the gardens in the UK are rather small and will not accommodate large specimen trees. Some of the species are ideal as individual plants whilst others provide excellent screening and windbreak plants. Other species are popular with flower arrangers and grown in cut foliage production. The Eucalypts are becoming increasingly popular with landscape gardeners in new planting schemes and in parks and arboretums where these fast growing evergreens contrast well with the more traditional trees and shrubs.
Eucalypts provide a wide variation of leaf, stem, bark and flower colour. The leaves of each of the species have a characteristic scent produced from the oil glands. The essential oils from Eucalyptus species have a variety of beneficial properties. The Peppermint group of Eucalypts, including Eucalyptus dives and Eucalyptus radiata have a high proportion of these essential oils. They make interesting shrubs with a lovely peppermint scent and attractive leaves. However , they are more tender than some other species and need shelter.
